If you wish to discover the “Mediterranean” side of Switzerland, to relax in the sun along the emerald water of Lake Lugano, to enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Verzasca Valley, to taste a good espresso and to live an Italian summer night. Then Ticino weekend is the perfect occasion!

To conclude the weekend you will have the opportunity to discover the James Bond that is in you with a 220m free fall from the “Diga Verzasca”. Exactly like in the 007 movie Goldeneye!

Friday, July 27

• Train ride to charming Lugano
• Check in at Canobbio bunker
• PARTY in the bunker!

 Saturday, July 28th

• Breakfast in the bunker
• Small tour of the city of Lugano, sponsored by the best guides (at least that is what our mothers say)
• Get up to San Salvatore by cablecar to enjoy the beautiful view!
• Trekking along the lake with a break for lunch
• Siesta (to be rested for the fiesta!)
• Stand up paddling in Lake Lugano
• Swimming and more water activities in the lake
• Dinner at a pizzeria
• Party (with the unique and matchless… PETER GERGES!)

Sunday, July 29th

• Breakfast + bunker cleaning
• Travel to Lavertezzo via Tenero
• Take a dip in the crystal clear waters near Ponte dei Salti 
• Enjoy lunch in the nature
• Get ready to jump from more than 200m high at “Diga Verzasca”
• For those who feel less of a 007, can take a nice walk down to Tenero and the then a train to Locarno, another beautiful town
• Enjoy the promenade and maybe a gelato before heading back home

Participation fees

• With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 135 CHF*
• With SBB half-fare (1/2) and Gleis 7: 145 CHF*
• With SBB half-fare (1/2) but no Gleis 7: 150 CHF*
• Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 160 CHF*

*If you become a helper, you can get a 30% discount. In case you are interested, please let us know.

A surcharge of 15 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE. 

The money will be collected at the start of the weekend. Only cash is accepted! :-)

If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!

• All train and bus rides within Ticino
• Accommodation (2 nights)
• Ride to San Salvatore
• Equipment rental and instructions for stand up paddling

NOT Included in the participation fee

• Train ride from your place to Lugano and from Locarno back to your place. Both rides are after 19h, so bring your Gleis 7!
• Lunch on Saturday (you can pickup something from the supermarket or enjoy some local cuisine)
• Dinner for Friday and Sunday
• (optional) Bungee jumping: to be paid cash directly at the Verzasca dam. The price depends on the number of jumpers. The price range is 195-255 CHF/person. If we reach 10, well pay 195.-, if we will reach 7 we’ll pay 235.-, with 3 235.-. So, convince your friends! :-). We will annonce the number of jumpers after the registration closure and get in contact with the jumpers. 

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration

• less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 08:00 PM, 27h July), you pay the entire participation fee
• 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
• 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
• after confirming but before 48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee

Checklist – Remember to Bring

• Cash for paying the participation fee!
• Dinner for Friday (if you are still hungry after 20h)
• Shoes to take a walk along the lake
• Swimming suit, towel (we take a dip in the water multiple times)
• Sunglasses and sun cream
• Bag which is comfortable to carry on Sunday
• Cash for the participation fee, the bungee jumping, and everything else
• Sleeping bag to sleep in the bunker
• Lots of energy and your best smile!
• (Optional) Guts for the bungee jump

Registration

Please, state your food preferences (e.g. vegetarian or allergies) and if you would like to do the bungee jump, in the comment before submitting the registration. In case you want to become a member, please let us know.

Registration will open on Wednesday 18th of July, 1 pm; and will close on Monday 23th of July, 6 pm. Remember that there is no confirmation needed.

The number of people already registered for this event is 45. The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 47 (plus 3 organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to prioritise IAESTE Switzerland affiliates during the first 48 hours of registration. If your registration is not among the first 47, it will be put on the waiting list.
