Cheese and Chocoate Weekend,
June 12-13, 2010

Have you ever asked yourself where the delicious Swiss Chocolate and the tasty Gruyère Cheese come from?

 If yes, this is the perfect occaison to get to know the the stunning landscape of Gruyères. You will have the opportunity to taste the best chocolate and best cheese in the world situated in a scenery like on a postcard. Beside the medival town of Gruyère, stunning views from the top or Moléson is also the Museum of HR Giger (the creator of Alien) awaiting you. Prepare yourself to experience plenty of cultural and other adventures.

Program

Saturday, June 12

  • 10:24  Meeting at Broc trainstation
  • 10:30  Visit of the Chocolate factory
  • 12:15  Small hike from Broc to Gruyères (ca. 6km)
  • 14:30  Arriving in Gruyères: Castle, Museum HR Giger (the creator of Alien),
               Town, Shopping, Café, ....
  • 16:11  Bus to Moléson village
  • 16:27  Hike to Plan-Francey (1h30), there is for lazy people a CableCar
  • 19:00  Fondue

 

Sunday, June 13

  • 09:00  Breakfast
  • 10:00  Hiking up Moléson (2h30)
  • 12:30  Lunch at top of the mountain
  • 15:00  Visit of an old cheese factory
  • 16:30  Bus to Bulle

Participation fees

Please take into considereation that you will have to look for your own ticket to get to Broc and back from Bulle or Fribourg

  • With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 45 CHF
  • With SBB half-fare (1/2) and Gleis 7: 65 CHF
  • With SBB half-fare (1/2) but no Gleis 7: 65 CHF
  • Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 75 CHF

If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!

A surcharge of 30 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.

The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)

Included in the participation fee

  • Visites to the chocolate and cheese factory
  • Fondue on Saturday evening, Breakfast
  • Accomodation in Plan-Francey
  • ATTENTION: The activities in Gruyères are not included

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration
  • less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 17:00, 6.6.2010), you pay the entire participation fee
  • 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
  • 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
  • after confirming but before 48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee

Checklist - Remember to Bring

  • Cash for paying the participation fee
  • Good hiking schoes
  • Sleeping bag, otherwise u have to pay 5.- for bedclothes
  • Lunch for Saturday
  • Lots of energy and your best smile! :-)

Make sure that you can carry your luggage all day long. You will to have to take it with you for the hikes.

Registration

The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 30 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 30, it will be put on the waiting list.
