Looking for the secret of Swiss chocolate
Have you always wanted to know how chocolate is made? Or where the ingredients come from? Or what makes Swiss chocolate so different? Do you need to buy huge amount of chocolate before you meet your family for Christmas?

IAESTE Switzerland will help you to find the answer. We are taking you to Visit Schoggiland in Flawil and find out the secret of top-level Swiss chocolate art produced by Maestrani Factory. And get ready; you won't only learn how swiss chocolate made, but you will have the chance to taste it and pour your own Chocolate!

You can be sure of an IAESTE experience to be remembered.

Program

Friday, December 18

  • We will start precisely at 12:30 at the Maestrani Chocolate Factory's visitor center.
  • First, you will choose your mould for the creation of Chocolate, and pour the hot liquid with your personal seasoning into the mould.
  • While waiting for the chocolate to cool down, we will watch a film about the history of chocolate and Maestrani group.
  • Then, we will go into a tour in the Chocolate Museum, where we will see the old machines. The tour would continue by watching the production line through the Visitors tunnel.
  • After the tour, we will take a coffee break with a delicious sweet croissant.
  • When our chocolate creations get in shape, we will wrap up to take them home.
  • Surely at the end, we will have the chance to enjoy special Christmas shopping in the factory store.
  • Duration: about 2 hours

Feel free to re-live those sweet memories of childhood by creating your own Santa Claus or animals figures, and to season your creation with your favorites flavor..

Cost

This sweet opportunity is offered to you at special IAESTE price of 15 CHF! You would just need to buy extra your train ticket to Flawil/Maestrani and back.

A surcharge of 15 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.

As the visit would take place on Friday afternoon, Please ask your employer for permission to attend this Industrial Sight, he might support you on being part on this unique experience.

The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration, without having someone to take your place
  • less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 12:30 PM, Friday 18th December 2009), you pay 30 CHF 
  • 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 20 CHF
  • 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 15 CHF
  • 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 10 CHF
Please note, that if you fail to show up for the event, you have to pay a full participation fee (30 CHF), even if you are IAESTE trainee.

Tickets

You have to buy your own train and bus tickets from your town to Flawil/Maestrani and back. Please buy the tickets before you come to the meeting point.

NOTE: We might organize group tickets for all participants from Zurich and back. This should cost 25 CHF for 1/2 Tax holders. If you are not coming via Zurich, write it down in the remarks.

Meeting point and train connections

  • As almost everyone would be traveling via Zurich, the meeting point would be in Zurich Main Station under the big clock. We will meet there at 10:00 AM.
  • For anyone coming with different conncections, we are going to meet at the Bus Station Flawil/Maestrani at 12:15
The factory is over-booked during this period, so we have a fixed schedule. Therefore, we cannot wait for any late participant! So, please make sure to be on time!

Registration

The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 25 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 25, it will be put on the waiting list.
