The nuclear power plant Leibstadt was built in 1984 as the fifth and biggest nuclear power plant in Switzerland. It is still one of the biggest in Europe. Today it produces 1165 MW of power. Around 55% of the electricity in Switzerland is produced by hydroplants, 40% is nuclear energy.
The visit of the power plant will take place on Saturday, November 15th. The following things are planned:
If you don't have the possibility to visit such a power plant or if you simply don't have any in your country this is your chance to get to know them! The information center is very well made. You will hear everything about the functioning and safety of the plant as well as the nuclear waste handling. In the end we will have the possibility to visit the cooling tower and actually walk around inside!
A coffee break and a small lunch will be provided as well.
As a free extension of that event we suggest a visit in the thermal bath in Zurzach ( 25min from Leibstadt ). However this is not anymore part of the program. In case you are interessted bring your bath clothes. You can also decide spontaneously.
You have to buy your own train and bus tickets from your town to Leibstadt/Milchhüsli and back. Please buy the tickets before you come to the meeting point.
The security guards of the power plant demand the full data of all participants, especially the postal address of your accommodation in Switzerland AND your home country and the date of birth. That's the reason why the registration will close two weeks before the actually event this time.
Except of the train tickets, no cost at all!

For further information on train connections, check the SBB website.
The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 45 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 45, it will be put on the waiting list.
The online registration closed on Sunday, 27 September 2009, at 18:00:00.
