IAESTE Jura Weekend
September 12-13, 2009
Welcome to one of the most beautiful regions of Switzerland, the Jura! It is one of the three geographical regions of Switzerland - the plateau and the Alps being the other - adorned with the Jura mountains forming a distinct landscape.
We are going to be visiting the largest solar power plant for scientific purposes in Switzerland and an Absinthe distillery! But no doubt we will have some excercise as well, with a trottinette ride (apparently it's called scooter in English) on Saturday and an extended hike or electro bike ride if you fancy it on Sunday! The highlight of our visit to the Jura will be the fantastic Creux du Van (which you can admire above on the picture, allthough it looks ten times nicer in reality).
The hike up the Creux du Van is classified as a rather tough hike and lasts for ca. 5 hours (700m height difference) without counting in the lunch break. If you are not sure whether you are fit enough for the hike, we still want you to admire the beautiful view, just choose eBike when you register and pedal your way up.
