IAESTE Easy Hiking Weekend
September 19-20, 2009
Are you someone who likes hiking and nature? Then you have to join this weekend. Beautiful mountain views expect you. But that isn`t all. After a hike up we indulge ourself with a race on the longest Toboggan run of the world. We round up the weekend with relaxing in some thermal baths.

Program
Our weekend starts in Lenzerheide in the canton Graubünden. From there we take the chairlift up on the "Piz Scallotas". Numerous trails direct down trough the beautiful Alpen nature to Churwalden. There we stay overnight.
Sunday starts with a walk up on the Pradaschier. There the longest Toboggan run waits for us to take a ride down the mountain.
With 31 bends and a difference in altitude of 480 metres...it`s sure to be a lot of fun! We will end the weekend with a visit to the famous thermal bath "Tamina Therme" for muscle relaxation.
Saturday, September 19
- Meeting in Basel: 06:50 at the meetingpoint sign in the service hall
- Meeting in Zürich: 07:50 under the big clock in the main station
- Take the train to Chur and Bus to Churwaldn
- Drop the luggage at the accommodation
- Take the bus to Lenzerheide
- Take the chair lift up Piz Scalottas
- Hike back to the accommodation along the mountain in breathtaking scenery, have lunch on the way
- Have showers, relax
- Eat dinner
- Show the people of Lenzerheide how to party!
Sunday, September 20
- Have breakfast and pack the bags
- Walk up to Pradaschier
- Have lunch
- Be fast and furious on the toboggan ride back down
- Pick up the bags from the accommodation
- Take the bus and the train to Bad Ragaz
- Indulge in the famous thermal bath 'Tamina Therme'
- Travel home
Participation fees
The ticket from your home to 'Lenzerheide/Lai' and the train ride back home on Sunday night from Bad Ragaz are NOT included in the participation fee! For the journey back you can use your Gleis7.
- With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 75 CHF
- With SBB half-fare (1/2) and Gleis 7: 85 CHF
- With SBB half-fare (1/2) but no Gleis 7: 85 CHF
- Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 105 CHF
If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!
A surcharge of 25 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.
The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)
Included in the participation fee
- Dinner, accommodation, lunch for Sunday

Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your registration
- less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 07:07 PM, 18.Sept09), you pay the entire participation fee
- 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
- 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
- 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee
Checklist - Remember to Bring
- Cash for paying the participation fee
- Have your ticket to Lenzerheide/Lai bought when you get to the meeting point
- Good shoes (hiking boots or very rigid runners)! It's a rather easy hike, but people who show up in sandals or other excuses for shoes will be left at home!
- Lunch for Saturday
- Rain jacket (because you can never be sure... and umbrellas on hikers look silly)
- Sleeping bag
- Field glasses to watch the marmots (optional)
Important: We can drop our luggage at the accommodation before we go hiking. Bring a small rucksack containing all you need for the hike!

- Meeting point in Basel: 06:50 at the meetingpoint sign in the service hall
- Meeting point in Zürich: 07:50 under the big clock in the main station
- There'll be seats reserved for IAESTE, at the front/back end of the train

Registration
The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is
30 (including organizers and helpers) and
the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your
registration is not among the first 30, it will be put on
the waiting list.
