October 24-25, 2008

FRIDAY to SATURDAY!

 Wellness is most enjoyable after a good, long hike. Check it out with us! From Friday to Saturday, we will hike through the night to the peak 'Fronalpstock' where the gorgeous view over the lake and a not-to-miss breakfast are waiting for us at sunrise.

In a cable car, we will make our way down to the famous wellness resort 'Swiss Holiday Park' where we will give ourselves a treat. Sauna, wellness, relaxing like kings...

Hungry from wellnessing, we will finalze the week-end at the nearby lake-promenade in Brunnen eating dinner in the Hotel 'Elite'.

Program

Friday, October 24 

  • week-end warm-up with a drink in Brunnen
  • leave swimming suit, towels, etc. at Swiss Holiday Park (600 m.a.sea) www.shp.ch
  • 00:30h start hiking to mountain Stoos (1000m.a.sea)
    www.stoos.ch

Saturday, October 25

  • 3:15h arriving in Stoos
  • break around fire with soup, tee, games
  • 4:45h continue hiking to mountain Fronalpstock
  • 7:43h watch sunrise on Fronalpstock
  • 8:15 well-deserved breakfast with cheese, meat, ...
  • travel back to Swiss Holiday Park by cable car and bus
  • relaxing, sauna, etc in Swiss Holiday Park
  • 16:30 have lunch/dinner in Brunnen  

end of official week-end.

Possibility to go the a great concert near Zurich (Schwerzenbach), starting at 21h.

Participation fees

Note that the official start of the week-end is in Brunnen. Please buy your ticket to Brunnen yourself.
  • With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 65 CHF
  • With SBB half-fare (1/2): 70 CHF
  • Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 80 CHF

If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!

A surcharge of 25 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.

The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)

Included in the participation fee

  • transportation (bus Brunnen <-> Mohrschach, cable car Fronalpstock -> Stoos)
  • entrance Swiss Holiday Park
  • breakfast on Saturday
  • dinner on Saturday (drinks not incl.)
  • soup and tea during break when hiking
  • small snack for lunch at Saturday
  • lots of fun

Not Included in the participation fee

  • travel to Brunnen
  • drink in Brunnen on Friday evening
  • drinks at dinner on Saturday in Brunnen

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration
  • less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 10:40pm, Friday 24 Oct), you pay the entire participation fee
  • 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
  • 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
  • 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee

Checklist - Remember to Bring

We suggest packing your belongings into two different bags. A bag with the wellness-equipment which you can leave at the Swiss Holiday Park and a rucksack which you take hiking.

Put on :)

  • Cash for paying the participation fee
  • torch (ideally headlamp), it's going to be very dark!
  • appropriate cloths (gloves, cap)
  • good and comfortable shoes (hiking shoes)
Put in hiking rucksack:
  • some food and drinks for nigth hike
  • raincoat or similar
  • a spoon (for eating soup)
  • 2 coups (one for tea, one for soup)
  • a bit of spare space for common goods
  • (optional) plastic bag to sit on it
  • (optional) camera
Wellness bag with:
  • swimming cloths
  • 2 towels, one for the sauna, one for taking a shower afterwards
  • toiletry (shampoo, etc.)
  • fresh cloths to change after hike
If somebody has a guitar and/or can play on it: Very welcome! We can discuss about a price reduction :).

 

Meeting point and train connections

  • meeting point 1:
    in the train from ZH to Zug, leaving ZH at 21:35. Let's meet in the first (direction of motion) 2nd class wagon. See time table below.

Registration

The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 20 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 20, it will be put on the waiting list.
