Are you interested in an

to find out more about a global leader in energy and high-speed
transport? Do you want to see a highly automated, large-scale,
21st-century manufacturing facility right here in Switzerland? Alstom
is at the forefront of technologies related to nuclear, gas, coal, oil,
hydroelectric, and wind power plants as well as the world's number 1 in
high-speed trains, including the TGV. Around the world, Alstom employs
more than 70,000 people in 70 countries and its technologies power one
in four of the world's light bulbs. More information can be found at http://www.alstom.com
What is an Industrial Sight?
In the past, trainees have said that they wished that they had
more industry exposure during their time in Switzerland. To respond to
this need, IAESTE created "Industrial Sights", for the first time in
the summer of 2001. Industrial Sights is designed to take trainees to
different companies and introduce them to different technologies. The
trips are designed to last between 2 and 4 hours and will cover the
basic areas of that particular company. Don't be scared; this is not
school!
Program
The visit will take place at Alstom's rotor factory in Birr on the
afternoon of Friday, April 18. We will have an introductory
presentation about Alstom's businesses and products, followed by a
guided tour of the highly advanced manufacturing facility at Birr. You
will learn about international careers at a large and dynamic
corporation like Alstom, from commissioning and servicing power plants
on all corners of the globe to developing and generating the next
generation of energy and transport technologies. Find out how your
skills and schooling can fit into Alstom! An apéro that follows will
give you the opportunity to speak to current Alstom employees.
Cost
There is no cost except for a return ticket to Birr AG. You will
have to gain permission from your employer to attend this Industrial
Sight, which takes place on the afternoon of Friday, April 18.
