IAESTE Gruyères Weekend
6-7th September 2008
Discover the lovely area of the coutryside of Fribourg, the medieval village of Gruyères taste some specialities and the famous swiss cheese, enjoy the beautiful view from the big mountain Moléson and meet other trainees from all over the world!
IAESTE LC Lausanne invites you to experience all of this!
Program
Saturday, 6th September
- Meeting at the railway station in Gruyères at 11:00
- Walk to the medieval village of Gruyères
- Visit the Gruyères Castle
- Go around the village and have lunch outside
- Visit the HR Giger museum: discover the Aliens designer
- Go to Enney, to the house where we are staying
- Evening at the house, with a real fondue for dinner !!
Sunday, 7th September
- Getting up "early" and have breakfast
- 8.45 am: train to Moléson village
- Visit of an artisanal cheese factory with a demonstration
- Cheese tasting at the enf of the visit
- Go up the Moléson - nice view, by cable car and/or by foot, training for the hiking week end!!. (There is also the possibility to stay at the village to enjoy the "grass sledging" or visit Fribourg in case of very bad weather)
Participation fees
- With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 75 CHF
- With SBB half-fare (1/2): 80 CHF
- Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 90 CHF
If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!
A surcharge of 15 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.
The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)
Included in the participation fee
- Local transport
- Entrance to the castle and HR Giger museum
- Dinner on Saturday
- Lodging
- Breakfast on Sunday
- Cheese factory visit and tasting
- Cable car ride to Moléson
Not included in the participation fee:
- Train ride from your place to Gruyères and back from Moléson
- Lunch for Saturday and Sunday
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel your registration
- less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 10:00 PM, Friday 5th September) you pay the entire participation fee
- 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
- 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
- 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee
Checklist - Remember to Bring
- Cash for paying the participation fee
- Lunch for Saturday (you will be able to buy something for Sunday)
- Sleeping bag and bed sheet (90x190cm), possibility to rent all for 12 CHF
- Student card if you have one!
- Walking shoes if you'ld like to walk on Sunday
- Rain jacket in case of bad weather
- Lots of energy and your best smile!

- Meeting point at 11:00 in Gruyeres train station ! We'll go then together to the village...

Registration
The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is
35 (including organizers and helpers) and
the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your
registration is not among the first 35, it will be put on
the waiting list.
