Be part of the fun this summer and travel from Thun to Bern, Switzerlands beautiful capital, by rafting along the picturesque and pristine clear water of the Aare River.

We take it easy and enjoy a relaxing boat trip down the river. The section rafted is a distance of approximately 22 km. It will take us approximatly 3 hours. Don't forget, you have to navigate the rubber dinghy yourself and probably you will get wet... :)

On Sunday we will experience the unique ambience of the capital of Switzerland and visit a few of its most important sights.

IAESTE LC Zurich & LC Basel invites you to experience all of this! So, don't hesitate to sing up.

 


Program

Saturday, July 12

  • Meet at 10.00 at Thun train station
  • Enjoy a walking tour of Thun
  • At 12.00 start the boat trip
  • Arrive in Bern and relax for a while at riverside
  • 18:00 Arriving at the Youth Hosel and enjoy a Raclett for dinner
  • Discover Berns's night life

Sunday, July 13

  • 11.00 Learn about the history of Bern in a 3D show
  • Tour of Bern city
  • Visiting the Münster and climb its tower
  • Enjoy a bath in the Aare if the weather is nice or spend your time in the beautiful old city

Participation fees

Note: These fees do not include the train ticket to Thun.
We will finish the Weekend in Bern, don't buy a return ticket!

  • With SBB General Abonnement (GA): 75 CHF
  • With SBB half-fare (1/2) and Gleis 7: 75 CHF
  • With SBB half-fare (1/2) but no Gleis 7: 75 CHF
  • Without SBB half-fare (1/2): 75 CHF

If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!

A surcharge of 15 CHF will apply for participants who are not affiliated with IAESTE or its partner organisations.

The money will be collected at the start of the weekend . Only cash is accepted! :-)

Included in the participation fee

  • Boat trip (Renting Boats, Swimvests etc)
  • Accommodation in Bern & breakfast
  • Dinner (Raclett)
  • Visiting the 3D show and the Bern Münsterturm

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration
  • less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 10:00 AM/PM, Saturday 12.7.2008), you pay the entire participation fee
  • 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
  • 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
  • 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee

Checklist - Remember to Bring

  • Cash for paying the participation fee
  • Small Picknick lunch for saturday. We will eat it before we start the boat trip.
  • Swimming suit
  • For Sunday you have to either bring your own food or eat something in Bern.

Don't bring to much luggage for this weekend since we have to take it down the river with our boats. You do not need a sleeping bag. Don't worry, it will stay dry but there is only limited space available.

Meeting point and train connections

Meeting point for all participants is in Thun at 10:00!

For anyone travelling from Zurich we will meet in Zurich HB at the meeting point under the big clock on the main floor at 07:50.

Registration

The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 30 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 30, it will be put on the waiting list.
