 What is ...

Post Conference Tour - Facultative, touristic tour after General Conference. Lasting 4-7 days, exploring the host country.

 LC-Wiki -The Wiki is our knowledge base. From the members, for the members :). It contains reports about past events, guidelines, templates, adresses, ... Everybody who can read it can also edit it.

Info Session - Info Sessions are for Swiss students. IAESTE informs them about the possibilities of going abroad with IAESTE. They take place at ETHs, univercities, engineering schools.

Mailing List -There are two lists - one for the members and one for the trainees

Trainee List - This is the official IAESTE email list for announcing all the activities/events and important information to the trainees.

Member List -This is a closed list meant only for the members of the Local committee.

Survival Booklet -The brochure for the trainees coming to Switzerland tells them how to survive in Switzerland. E.g. how to buy the right insurance, how the public transportation works in Switzerland, etc.

Weekly Meeting - Casual meeting for the trainees and members taking place once a week, usually in a bar in Zurich.

Monthly Meeting - Meeting for the LC members, taking place once a month to discuss the IAESTE business.

Yearly Dinner - The dinner all the LC's have together towards the end of the year.

Twinning - You visit us and we visit you - when two LC's from different countries agree to this and visit each other it's a twinning; it's an event where the participating LC's experience mutual hospitality, culture and enrich their IAESTE experience.

Member Events - By definition are weekend events exclusively meant for members, though trainees do join from time to time to make up the numbers.

Industrial Sight - A type of IAESTE event: A visit to an industry (factory, research center, brewery etc). The participants (mainly trainees) have a look around the facility and experience it first hand.

Activity Week-end - A weekend that all three LCs spend together. Every LC organises it in a row. The weekend is used for information exchange between the LCs, planning the year and providing the new members a deeper insight into IAESTE. An important task of this weekend is to define the summer program for the year.

International Night - A student party organised in autumn, when most Swiss student are back from their internship. Usually with live music and our very own iaeste bar.

Minutes - The written summary of the Local Committee's meetings. On every meeting, one person from the LC is assigned to take note of what is beeing said. This minutes keeper is responsible for putting the minutes online, and hand over a printed and signed version to the president.

Take Off party -A party organised by IAESTE before the swiss students take off abroad for their traineeship in spring.

Member Raising - Promoting IAESTE to potential new members and getting them to join the organisation.

Event Report - A report written by the event organiser(s) about the event. It is meant as a guide line to help the future organisers of the event and has all the pertinent information like accommodation, schedule, costs etc for that event

Job Raising -The number of jobs that are offered to foreign trainees within Switzerland determines how many swiss students go abroad; The National Office is responsible for raising jobs and is done full time.
