IAESTE Member Ski Weekend
in Sedrun
March 5-7, 2010

Quite late this year the Swiss LCs are going to enjoy their yearly Ski Weekend. This time it will take place in Sedrun near the Oberalppass. And for once we arranged for us to stay for 2 nights to spend some more quality time together! ; )

On Saturday we will leave you alone to arrange your own program. You can go skiing or snowboarding, sledging, snowshoe hiking or cross country skiing. Everything is possible!
And after dinner we will have a surprise prepared for you!

On Sunday after cleaning the house we will hit the slopes once more or even better, go for a relaxing visit to the local bath incl. sauna, whirl pool etc.

We will have our own house, which means we will have to cook for ourselves. But don't worry we already prepared the menus, you will just have to help chop up the vegetables...

 

 

Program

Friday, March 5

  • Arrival at hostel
  • Small dinner
  • Maybe watch a movie, play some games etc...

Saturday, March 6

  • Get up and have breakfast
  • Go skiing, snowboarding, sledging, snow shoe hiking, cross country skiing...
  • (meet for a drink in ... before going home)
  • Cook and have dinner at the hostel
  • Just after dinner comes THE surprise! ^^
  • Enjoy the evening together

Sunday, March 7

  • Get up and have breakfast
  • Clean the house and pack our stuff
  • Go skiing/Relax at the local spa
  • Collect luggage and say good bye

Participation fees

For all members of a Swiss LC the weekend will cost 70.- !

A surcharge of 10 CHF will apply for trainees and guests, as this is a member event.

Note that for this event no transport ticket is included, and therefore the price does not vary on that.

The money will be collected on Friday evening. Only cash is accepted! :-)

If you do not yet have a SBB half-fare card, we recommend you buying one! Check the SBB website!
Especially because there exists the possibility of buying a Snow'n'Rail pass for the Region (GOTTHARD OBERALP ARENA) in your home town! With this SBB offer you get a combined ticket for the train ride 'your hometown' - Sedrun and back and a ski pass, which can help you save a lot of money. (e.g. return ticket Zürich-Sedrun with 1/2: 50.80 + 1day ski pass: 55.- = 105.80; Snow'n'Rail: 67.80)

Included in the participation fee

  • Accomodation
  • 2 x dinner (Fr, Sa), 2 x breakfast (Sa, Su)

NOT included in the participation fee

  • Train ride from your place to Sedrun and back
  • Ski pass
  • Entrance to bath/sauna
  • Lunch on Saturday and Sunday

Prices

  • Daily ski pass: 50 CHF (44 CHF for a group with more than 10 people)
  • Daily sledging pass: 30 CHF
  • Renting of skis & boots or snowboard & boots: 43 CHF (-10% for a goup with more than 10 people)
  • Renting of sledges: 8 CHF
  • Renting of snowshoes: 23 CHF

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your registration
  • less than 12 hours before the start of the event (that is, 07:00 AM, March 5th), you pay the entire participation fee
  • 12-24 hours before the start of the event, you pay 75% of the participation fee
  • 24-48 hours before the start of the event, you pay 50% of the participation fee
  • 48-72 hours before the start of the event, you pay 25% of the participation fee

Checklist - Remember to Bring

  • Cash for paying the participation fee
  • Sleeping bag
  • Swim suit
  • Warm and waterproof clothes
  • Skiing or Snowboarding equipment (you can rent it in Sedrun too)
  • What ever else you think is necessary...

Meeting point and train connections

  • Meeting point for participants travelling from Zurich: Zurich main station, meeting point (under the big clock), at 17.20
  • For participants from other cities or travelling on a different train: arrange yourself with other participants from the same region. If you tell us your arrival time in Sedrun we will meet you at the train station.

Others will be registered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration

The maximum number of participants allowed for this event is 30 (including organizers and helpers) and the registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If your registration is not among the first 30, it will be put on the waiting list.
